Wittmann is a family winery that has been producing wines in the village of Westhofen in the southernmost part of the Rheinhessen region since 1663. Their adherence to tradition has led them to become a leading producer of dry white wines with body, tension and elegance.
Wittmann Riesling Trocken comes from vineyards in the limestone hills just west of the Rhine Valley. The vines are planted in limestone, marl and loess-rich soils, with subsoils of clay-rich sand and gravel. They have been cultivated using organic agriculture since 1990, and biodynamic agriculture since 2004. This is an aromatic Riesling with intense aromas of yellow fruit, hints of green fruit and seductive chalky touches. On the palate it is juicy, fresh and well structured. The fruity acidity, delicious mineral touches and long finish will leave you wanting more.
