Consider the appellation of Bandol a 'grand cru' of Provence with its quality soils and old vines - and the output of Terrebrune winemaker Reynald Delille to be some of the best and most age-worthy examples of the area. The estate was created in 1963 and amounts to 30Ha of prime vineyards of limestone pebbles on brown clay. Farming is certified organic.
The Bandol Rouge is composed of 85% Mourvèdre, 10% Grenache and 5% Cinsault and grown on soils of limestone pebbles in brown clay, limestone and marl.
Manual harvest. The underground cellar allows for gentle crushing by gravity followed by a delicate pneumatic press. Juice is fermented in stainless steel. Wine ages in oak foudres of 50-60 litres for 18 months – this long period aids stabilization and natural clarification. Wines are rested for 12 months in bottle prior to release.
A complex nose of opulent Mourvèdre fruit and a whisper of animal/barnyard and turned earth.
On the palette fleshy raspberry melds with tea-leaf and currants around a core of chewy tannins.
Potential ageing of up to 30 years.
Entering drinkability period a few years past vintage so enjoy now with decantation , or hold for future drinking.

Quick note on Fine Wine purchasing.
When ordering that special bottle of wine it is worth doing a little research before making a purchase. Wine is a living product, which goes through changes and stages of development in the bottle, as well as varying between vintages. If you are considering ordering an older vintage we recommend speaking to a member of staff or using a review site like cellartracker.com to try and get as full a picture as possible of the flavour profile and development of the bottle you are considering.
