Lidia Matera now manages her father's 16Ha winery - Terre Nobili, established in 1965 – and has farmed organically since 1998. Her philosophy is to show varietal purity by not using oak treatment.
The Carigliocuvee is a blend of rare Calabrian grapes - 80% Magliocco Dolce, 20% Magliocco Canino.
Vines grow on clay soils at 250 metres above sea level in the hot, dry Calabrian climate.
Maceration on the skins for 21 days and then aged for six months in stainless steel tanks – no oak treatment.
Deep opaque purple colour in the glass. Scents of red and black berries, mediterranean scrub, sweet spices on the nose. A full bodied palette, warming and rich with smooth tannins. Still a real freshness to the black fruits which is very appealing.
It's a wine ideal for drinking young.
Pair with pasta and meat sauces, charcuterie, steak.
