A wine made from 100% Tinta del Toro, a local name for the more familiar Tempranillo grape varietal. The name 'Sin Complejos' or 'without complexity' is appropriate for this wine from Bodegas Gil Luna which offers up a fresh, fruity character perfect for everyday drinking.
The Toro appellation lies within Castilla y Leon, downstream from Ribera del Duero, and enjoys a hot Continental climate where red wines are the focus. The wines are in a similar style to Ribera del Duero, though perhaps more rustic.
"Sin Complejos" is made from 40-year-old Tinta de Toro vines grown on characteristic sandy soils. The winery practices an approach with respect for the environment in the vineyard and minimal interference in the winery during vinification.
The wine undergoes six months of ageing in French and American oak barrels prior to bottling.
In the glass a deep and intense hue of red cherries, with fresh red berry fruit and a hint of baking spice on the nose. It is soft and smooth on the palate, with ripe fruit character and soft tannins. In essence a more youthful and fresh example of Tempranillo, easy drinking and very enjoyable.
