Lucien Aviet Arbois Trousseau Cuvee des Geologues, Jura, France 2020

1 in stock

Vincent Aviet – now retired and a local legend of the region - and son, Lucien Aviet - are red wine specialists of the appellation, focussing on the native Trousseau varietal. They also make incredible oxidised white wines from the Savagnin grape.

The style is traditional. Old vines, ploughed soils, low yields, and long patient ageing of wines in old foudres.

The Geologues bottling comes from two south-facing vineyards in Montignyles Arsures with a similar terroir of gravel soil with clay and flint. The Trousseau vines range from 10 to 60 years in age.

A elegant nose of red cherry and cranberry fruit with crushed stone. The palette is juicy, textural with spice and mineral notes. Precise tannins and fresh acidity offer a long finish of great purity.

Drink now or hold for up to 5 years.
