Established in 2003, the estate takes its name from the contraction of Gratallops (the name of the village where the winery is located) and Vinum (Latin for wine), and is run by the Cusiné family and winemaker Jordi Fernandez. They farm 17 hectares of terraced vineyards rich in 'Licorella', the classic terroir of Priorat - a slate and quartz soil. These are wines with concentration and power combined with a classic mineral character.

The philosophy is respectful to the environment and biodiversity, and they cultivate their vineyards organically, without pesticides or herbicides. No irrigation takes place to encourage rots to dig deep into the mineral-rich soils.

The blend is a combination of classic Priorat varietals – Grenache and Carignan - along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. It spends 14 months in a combination of new and second year French and Hungarian oak barrels.

In the glass the wine is a deep purple. Highly aromatic and complex on the nose with with baked red fruits and a hint toasty notes from the oak. Mouthfeel is soft and round but this is balanced by ripe tannins and good acidity. The finish is lingering showing classic mineral notes.
