Comando G is the winemaking venture of Dani Landi and Fernando Garcia, with a focus upon old vine Grenache (Garnacha) from the rugged Gredos mountains to the West of Madrid.

It's important to say from the outset that these wines are not in the mould of sometimes overly ripe, extracted Grenache with high alcohol levels. Comando G (the G stands for Grenache) approach their winemaking in a way which exhibits elegance, refinement and a lightness of touch.

Tumba de Rey Moro is a 'Grand Cru' wine from the valley of Alto Alberche, the grapes coming from a plot near the village of Villanueva De Avila. The vineyard is crazy paving mishmash more reminiscent of a rockfall than a ploughed field. The grapes grow irregularly on several small terraces over pink quartz flecked, granite soils.

Comando G observe organic and biodynamic farming. The grapes are hand harvested the wine undergoes a long, gentle maceration with natural yeast fermentation and then over a year in large oak foundre.

The project success is in elevating the sometimes very ordinary Grenache varietal into something very special - almost Burgundian Pinot Noir in it's overall presentation. One of the most exciting new-school wine producers in Spain right now.
