Robert's sons Bertrand and Denis Chevillon currently run the domaine. It is primarily composed of a number of premier crus vineyards in Nuits St Georges. 11Ha in total.
The approach to winemaking is lutte raisonée. Fruit is 100% destalked, put into temperature controlled pre-maceration, and followed by long, slow fermentation in vat. 18 months in barrel, with a single racking after malo. 30% new oak for all the premiers crus bottlings. Bottling at approximately 20 months.
The Les Chaignots 1er Cru vineyard is composed of 60 year old vines on clay, limestone, oolite, silt soils over a 1.55Ha area. Eastern exposition with between 260-280 meters in altitude.
A nose of red currant fruit, spice, earth. Rich and detailed palette of cassis, herbs framed with savoury and mineral notes. Broad and full mouthfeel. Impressive long finish of fine velvety tannins. Decantation recommended.
