Full bottle 1,278 g. 100% Sangiovese from a 1.5-ha vineyard planted in 1988. East facing, 430 m, clay schist. 2021 was a cool vintage. Hand-picking starting 30 September. Aged 24 months in light- to medium-toast 30–50-hl French oak barrels, and then aged further in unglazed, conical concrete vats. TA 5.6 g/l, pH 3.4, RS < 1 g/l.
Raspberries and chestnuts and singing soprano, clear and pitch perfect and bone-ringing beautiful. Lustrous fruit. A little smoky, a smudge of rusty iron, bruised red roses. Tannins that start like iron bars and finish like a kitten’s tongue. Long, long, violet-scented finish. Just hitting its stride. And how...17.5/20
