Saint Jacques de Siran, AOC Bordeaux Superieur 2018

10 in stock

Chateau Siran is located in the Margaux appellation, and make three wines. Six generations of the Miailhe family have managed this chateau since 1869.

This third wine - Saint Jacques de Siran – is composed of fruit from sites which sit just outside of the Margaux appellation so therefore is classified as Bordeaux Supérieur. The first (Chateau Siran) and second wines ('S' de Siran) are labelled Margaux AOC.

Siran is composed of 40Ha of vineyards in total. This wine is soured from 7Ha of vines planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Average vine age is 30 years, grown on soils of clay topsoil over sandy gravel.

The blend is Merlot dominant - 42% Merlot, 29 % Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Grapes are picked and sorted by hand. Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled vats, and the wines are aged in barrel for 10 months.

Once fermentation is complete the wines are transferred into oak barrels (35% new oak) for 12–14 months of aging.

A nose of ripe bramble plum, sous bois and herbs. Medium-bodied on the palate with ripe black fruits, cedar and vanilla revealing oak influence. An approachable Bordeaux, easy-going everyday bottling.

Ready to drink now, best enjoyed within 4-5 years of its production.
