Laura of Daterra Viticultores started the vinous journey in the year 2000, working at in the Val de Bibei area, most notably at Dominio del Bibei.
in 2014 she started her own project in Manzaneda in the far south-east of the Ribeira Sacra DO. She works with local farmers who have been cultivating various plots for generations, and have access to some wonderful old-vine fruit. She has access to around 30 plots over 4.5 areas, all planted to indigenous varieties.
The grapes in this bottle include Mencía, Mouraton, Bastardo, Alicante Bouschet, Gran Negro, Godello, Doña Blanca, Colgadeira and Palomino, some of them coming from vines up to 120 years old on sandy granite soils. The grapes are fermented together then aged for a year in chestnut barrels. Winemaking is organic and hands-off.
