The Cortese winery is located in the village of Rabajà, within the prestigious commune of Barbaresco and consists of 20Ha under vine.

They employ rigorous care of the estate’s vineyards, strict selection of the best clusters, and a traditional approach to vinification. The winery is located in an underground cellar and houses various sizes of the larger traditional botti (large barrels) used for their vinifications.

The vineyard cru - Rabajà – is a highly regarded site for growing Nebbiolo. 4Ha of vines grown in calcareous clay-loamy soils. Vines were planted between 1958-1978.

After fermentation with wild yeasts in stainless steel, the wine is aged for twenty-two months in seasoned large Slavonian oak casks, then bottled unfiltered and cellared for an additional thirteen months.

In the glass there are concentrated aromas of raspberry coulis, roses, violets, old leather and woodsmoke and spice. The palette is full, robust with firm tannins and a long complex finish. Restrained power throughout.

Pair with roasted red meats, venison, game birds.
