Domaine Bruno Clair, Les Champs Perdrix Vosne-Romanee 2015

5 in stock

Bruno Clair established his own small domaine in 1979. His family's estate – one of the most renowned in Burgundy – Clair-Dau, was dismantled in 1985 due to family disagreements. Following this, a selection of Clair-Dau vineyards owned by family members were handed over to him, adding to his original portfolio of plots. Currently Bruno's vineyards are spread widely in Burgundy across nine appellations, totalling 24Ha. He has a reputation for producing wines of great purity.

His approach involves intense manual labour in the vineyard, rigorous sorting and a minimal intervention vinification. He favours destemming prior to fermentation.

Large old foudres and barriques are utilised for a long ageing process in the cellar. The aging of the estate's wines is quite long, it varies according to the vintages from 16 to 22 months. The cuvées are aged in oak barrels, with a percentage of new barrels varying from 20 to 50% depending on the wines.

A village level wine from Vosne-Romanee with 70 year old vines. Les Champs Perdrix is situated up higher up the slope behind the grand crus Vosne-Romanée sites. 100% destemmed, with a new oak mix around 25% for this village level wine.
