Philippe Livera Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016

2 in stock

Domaine Philippe Livera formerly (Domaine des Tilleuls) of Côte de Nuits create classically styled Burgundies that are earthy, pure and of great complexity with the focus upon fruit. Its origins began in 1920, and Damien Livera took over the family domaine in 2005 where he began a range of upgrades and improvements to the domaine. They farm 8.5 hectares of vines spread over the appellations Côte de Nuits, Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin.

Livera owns one of the coldest cellars and malolactic fermentations there are very slow, resulting in wines with real depth and complexity.

This grand cru of 5 hectares is located between Clos-de-Bèze and Chapelle-Chambertin with Livera owning a mere 3,000 square metres of the vineyard. The yield of this small area produces only 3 to 4 barrels in each vintage. The wine is matured in 80% new oak.

Aromas of ripe red fruits, violet, earth and spice with silky tannins and a intensely flavoured ethereal finish. Considerable length. This is undoubtedly a complex wine, intended for long ageing.
