Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey Chambertin Les Corbeaux Vieilles Vignes Premier Cru, Burgundy, France 2012

Notify me when this product is available:

Small 4Ha estate in Gevrey-Chambertain overseen single-handedly by Denis Bachelet who became winemaker in 1981 following the passing of his grandfather. He has achieved iconic status in Burgundy, with the small output of wines becoming highly sought after.

He understands that good winemaking begins in the vineyard itself, with careful vine management and an uncertified organic/low intervention approach throughout. Lutte raisonnée, in essence.

Les Corbeaux Vieilles Vignes, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru is sourced from 0.42 ha in three parcels, adjacent to northern border of Mazis-Chamberetin; These vines were planted in 1920 and 1961. Fruit is 100% de-stemed; fermentation made with indigenous yeasts. 16 months in barrel with 50% new oak.

Ripe, black and red fruit on the palette with smoke and crushed rock. Complex, nuanced palette of wild strawberry, underbrush, leather and game. Oak influence present but nicely balanced. Long and complex.
