Comando G 'Rozas 1er Cru' Sierra de Gredos, Castilla y Leon 2021

Notify me when this product is available:

Comando G is the winemaking venture of old friends Dani Landi and Fernando Garcia, with a focus upon old vine Grenache (Garnacha) sourced from the rugged Gredos mountains to the West of Madrid. Though this wine is not the usual overly ripe/high alcohol Grenache we might perhaps expect. Comando G make wines of elegance and finesse which reflect the true terroir of this high altitude location.

This 'Rozas 1er Cru' bottling comprises old bush vine fruit carefully selected from a number of sandy granite sites totalling 5Ha, all at altitudes of around 800m surrounding the village of Las Rozas de Puerto Real. Organic and biodynamic winemaking practices are followed throughout. Fruit is hand harvested, fermentation is carried out with natural yeast in open vats. A 40-60 day maceration period is observed. Ageing is carried out for 12 months in old oak vats.

The wine is perhaps best described as a more intense and refined example of their excellent 'village' level wine, La Bruja de Rozas (also available in our shop). Bright, perfumed red berry fruit, is coupled with an intense minerality and and more pronounced tannic structure.

A highly recommended wine from exciting young Spanish winemakers.
