Comando G is the winemaking venture of Dani Landi and Fernando Garcia, with a focus upon old vine Grenache (Garnacha) from the rugged Gredos mountains to the West of Madrid.

It's important to say from the outset that these wines are not in the mould of sometimes overly ripe, extracted Grenache with high alcohol levels. Comando G approach their winemaking in a way which exhibits elegance, refinement and a lightness of touch.

La Bruja de Rozas is their entry level 'village' wine, using fruit from a number of vineyards all at altitudes of around 800m surrounding the village of Las Rozas de Puerto Real. The bush vines are 50- to 70 years of age.

Fruit is hand harvested, fermentation is carried out with natural yeast in open vats. A 40-60 day maceration period is observed. Ageing is carried out for 9 months in old oak vats. They observe organic and biodynamic farming.

On the nose, perfumed and lively with precise bright red berry fruit, complemented by dried herbs and a subtile savoury note. There is a real energy to the wine, a refreshing acidity. The finish is long, framed by fine tannins.

The project success is in elevating the sometimes very ordinary Grenache varietal into something very special - almost Burgundian Pinot Noir in it's overall presentation. One of the most exciting new-school wine producers in Spain right now.
