Villa Mattielli is a now fourth generation family-owned estate located in the hills of east of Verona comprising 30Ha of vines.
This Amarone blend consists of 50% Corvina 30% Corvinone 15% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta. Only produced in the best vintages in limited number, it is the result of a careful selection of the grapes and a long drying process of four to five months in order to concentrate sugar and phenolic compounds. Following fermentation the wine is raised in French and American oak barriques for about 24 months, with additional ageing in the bottle.
A complex nose of dried red and black fruits, cherry kirsch along with scents of vanilla, tobacco and spices. Complex on the palate with a lovely mineral imprint, and soft and smooth tannins. Warm, long-lasting finish of prunes, bitter cocoa, turned earth. An elegant, powerful wine to enjoy with food or simply to linger over on its own.
