Côte de Beaune domaine with vineyards spread across sites in Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay Pommard, Santeany, Saint-Aubin, and Beaune – 14.8Ha, in a total of 22 appellations. Fernand & Laurent are the fourth generation of family winemakers.
Manual focus in vineyards, worked according to organic principles. Low yields a priority.
The Les Champ Gains plot sits mid-slope in Chassagne. The vines grow on 0.85 acres of stony, clay-limestone soils which are located at 787 feet above sea level. Grapes are hand-harvested and carried to the winery where they undergo alcoholic fermentation in oak barrels for a period of two months. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 11–12 months.
The nose shows aromas of lemon, grapefruit. A round and rich mouthfeel is tempered by delicate acidity and offers up white flowers and citrus fruits on a long finish. Good ageing potential for up to 10 years.
Pair with grilled fish, shrimp, scallops and cream based sauces.
