Domaine Vico is located in the heart of Corsica at the foot of the mountainous peaks of the Popolasca overlooking the Golo Valley. These high elevation vineyards were planted by Jean Vico in 1902, and it is now owned and run by the Venturi family who took over in the early 1990s.
The blend is 70% Niellucciu, 20% Sciaccarellu and 10% Syrah grown on schist soils with a south/south-east exposure.
Fruit is 100% destemmed and undergoes a pneumatic pressing. Vinification is in concrete tank using selected Corsican yeasts. There follows a long maceration of around 30 days. The wine is aged for between 12 to 18 months with oak prior to filtering/bottling.
This is a rich, perfumed bottle with great structure and concentration showing spice from new wood, a lush texture and ripe red berry fruit.
