Catherine Marshall is one of our favourite winemakers from a South African line-up which has grown in quality over the last year or so. She makes a variety of cuvees, mostly from grapes grown in the cooler climate of Elgin. This coastal region, which is cooled by sea breezes is perfect for producing balanced, fresh wines.
Peter's Vision is a Bordeaux blend but styled more like a classical Right Bank Pomerol than chunky Margaux or Pauillac. A 57/43 blend of Cab Franc and Merlot which really makes good on the possibilities for elegance and lifted aromatics the former varietal provide. There are plenty of plum and mulberry flavours which form a ripe fruit core but it is wonderfully fresh, with herbal, leafy notes and typical Cab Franc graphite minerality. The tannins are supple and form a harmoniously balance with the opulent fruit along a lengthy finish.
