Bodegas Borsao Garnacha - Tinto Seleccion Joven, Campo de Borja 2018

The Campo de Borja DO lies in the Central North of Spain, landlocked with Navarra DO to the North and Rioja DO to the North West. It is an area dominated by Grenache (or Garnacha as it is known in Spain).

These Borsao Garnacha vines grow bush-trained on hillsides with no irrigation. The hillsides of the Moncayo shelter these vineyards located between 350 and 800 metres in altitude. This height helps to regulate temperature in this hot region and is assisted by the moderating the effects of the 'Cierzo' - a strong, dry and usually cold wind that blows from the North or Northwest through the area.

The wine is mostly Garnacha with small percentages of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon to provide structure. Each variety is vinified separately and then blended before bottling.

This wine has a very clear appearance with an intense cherry red colour with touches of violet. On the nose aromas of ripe berries and floral notes dominate. On the palate it is a medium full bodied wine with pleasant soft tannins in perfect harmony with its acidity giving a wine that of red berries with spicy undertones that are typical of Garnacha. With only moderate use of neutral oak, this is a more fruit forward bottle. Enjoy with barbecue or perhaps a Bolognese pasta.
