Domaine Belleville Mercurey 'Les Perrieres' Cote Chalonnaise 2017

Since a change of ownership in 2017 by American financiers Denise Dupré and Mark Nunnelly, the quality level has improved greatly at this increasingly highly regarded Domaine. Further investments in the domaines of Les Parcellaires de Saulx and Clos de la Commaraine signal great commitment from the team to strike out in Burgundy.

At Belleville farming of the 22Ha is carried out organically and biodynamically.

For this wine - 40 year old vines on gravel soils from a single plot in the appellation of Mercurey. The terroir is formed on a stony slope with a rocky outcrop. Harvesting is made in two passes.

35% new oak, 12 months ageing in barrel.

A deep garnet-red in the glass. Perfumed nose of black fruits, undergrowth and spice on the nose. Round delicate tannic structure – well integrated - and smooth fruit character on the palette. Good length.

Pair with beef bourguignon, game birds, roast lamb.

A rejuvenated domaine and one to watch over future years.
