Anconc established its distillery in Aberdeenshire in 1894 and since then has established a long found reputation in traditional whisky distillations. Named Knockdhu, Gaelic for Black Hill, which offers an alluring backdrop for the distillery as well as a source of fresh spring water used in the production process. The distillery has evolved in resent times to incorporate more sustainable practices such as creating a wetlands spread over 7 parcels of land which surround the distillery offering a brand new ecosystem of plants, insects and birds.
This 12 year old is a perfect introduction to single malt whisky. Having been matured in old American Bourbon and Spanish Sherry casks, the result is a highly aromatic whisky with aromas of honey, lemon and vanilla combined with a smooth finish.
