Established in the 1930's this domaine was managed by Jacqueline (who herself retired in 2009) following the passing of Georges. Responsibility is now in the hands of her daughters Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée. the third generation of this winemaking family. It is regarded as perhaps the finest estate in Vosne-Romanee.

The domaine cultivates over 9 hectares in nine different appellations with a philosophy based upon respect of terroir and the environment. Viticulture is carried out using sustainable methods – opting to use ploughing to cultivate the soils so as to let the vine roots grow deeply and vigorously for example.

At harvest grapes are hand-picked then rigorously selected for quality on a sorting table and stems removed. Cold maceration lasts for around five days, and alcoholic fermentation continues for approximately 10 days. Each cuvée is then placed into oak barrels to age for 18 months. Wines are bottled at the domain, neither fined nor filtered.

The vines for this wine sit to the north-east of Vosne-Romanée, Les Chalendins, with soils of clay and limestone.

In the glass, a deep garnet colour. The nose is fruity and delivers flavours of blackberry and bilberry laced with some coffee notes. The palette is reminiscent of cherry, strawberry and undergrowth - rich and ample.

Drink now or hold for up to 10 years. Pair with grilled or roasted red meats.

'Bright, zesty fruit that's almost raw. Lots of suave fruit. Racy, rich and a hint of chestnuts but lots of depth and background. Very rewarding.' 16.5
